WHEN TO VISIT

What is the weather like on Gili Air

On average, the temperatures are always quite high here. October tends to be the warmest month, and the July the coolest. Most of the rain falls between January – March, and November – December. January is normally the wettest month, and Augusts the driest.

When is low and high season

Our prices vary depending on the season. Low season prices are available between 11 January – 14 July, and 1 September – 19 December. High season prices apply between 20 December – 10 January, and 15 July – 31 August.

 

LOCATION & TRANSPORT

How do you get to H2O from Bali

Getting here from Bali is very easy.

Most people tend to spend one night in Bali before coming to the Gili islands.  Kuta and Sanur are easy options to stay for transportation. Ubud is also a good option if you have 2 nights or more, as it is further from the airport.

Usually your hotel can organise transportation for you, or there are many roadside ticket sellers in those areas. You can buy a combo ticket for a shuttle bus pickup and fast boat. There are many companies that offer this service – Wahana and Eka Jaya are the bigger companies. 300,000IDR is a good price for one way.

You are usually picked up at approx 7 am and taken to the fast boat. You will then arrive here in Gili Air at 11.30 am.

How do I get to H2O from the harbour
We are a 12 min walk from the harbour. It is well signposted and easy to find. Just take the road down the middle of the island next to Oceans 5 Dive Center, which is where you will arrive from the boat, and follow the many signs. Alternatively you can take a horse cart which is 100,000 IDR for one or two people.

When leaving Gili Air what time should I book my departure flight from Bali or Lombok
On leaving Gili Air, the earliest time you will reach Lombok airport is 10:30am. If travelling to Bali, the earliest time you will reach Denpasar airport is 5pm.

How close is your centre to the beach
We are only 200m (2 minute walk) from the Sunrise East Beach.

Are there shops and restaurants nearby
We are centrally located, a short walk or bicycle ride from a small supermarket, pharmacy, souvenir shops, local and western cafes and restaurants.

What transport is available on Gili Air
As there are no motorised vehicles on Gili Air, most people getting around by either walking, cycling or horse and cart. Everything is close by – you can walk round the perimeter of the island in 1-2 hours and will certainly enjoy the peace.

Do you have bicycle hire
Yes we have bicycles available for the price of 40 IDR per day, or 100 IDR for 3 days.

How do I reach other islands from Gili Air
There are daily boats that go between Gili Air, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Lombok. It is very easy to visit any of these islands for the day, or spend a night there if you prefer.

 

YOGA AND MEDITATION

What classes do you offer
We offer a wide variety of classes. These include Vinyasa, Traditional Hatha and Yin Yoga, as well as Qi Gong, breathwork and meditation classes.

Do you offer workshops
We offer weekly Beginners Yoga workshops every Tuesday and Friday, and weekly Yin Yoga workshops every Sunday. At only 300,000 IDR, these 3 hour workshops are great value for money. We guarantee you will learn a lot!

Do you offer Teacher Training Courses
Yes we offer 55 Hour Yin Teacher Training and 55 Meditation Teacher Training programs. These are all certified with Yoga Alliance.  We also hope to offer 200 and 300 Hour Teacher Training programs in the future.

Do you hold any special events
We currently offer bi-monthly full and new moon meditation ceremonies. All proceeds are donated to charity. This is a beautiful opportunity for strengthening our connection with the rhythms of nature and contributing towards a worthy cause.

Are your classes suitable for beginners
All our classes are very beginner friendly. We often have several people in a class who are new to yoga or meditation so you will be in good company! J

Are your classes suitable for experienced yogis
Our classes are suitable for beginners and experienced yogis alike. Our instructors are all very experienced and will offer alternatives suitable for mixed experience levels.

Are your classes suitable for people with injuries
If you have an injury please let our instructor know at the beginning of class and they will advise you on how to manage whatever you are dealing with. Please keep in mind that depending on how severe your condition is, some classes may be more suitable than others. We offer daily Aqua Yoga which is a very safe and fun alternative to the regular classes. We also offer meditation classes 5 times per week and gentler yoga classes every afternoon. Please feel free to speak to our instructors if you have any questions or concerns.

Can I join the classes if I am pregnant
Depending on your stage of pregnancy and how much experience you have with practicing yoga, some classes may be more suitable than others. We offer daily Aqua Yoga is a very safe and fun alternative to the regular classes. We also offer meditation classes 5 times per week and gentler yoga classes every afternoon. Please feel free to speak to our instructors if you have any questions or concerns.

Are all the classes included in the price of my stay
We offer a variety of packages that include unlimited class passes. If you decide to join us for an accommodation only stay, you will receive discounted rates on our classes and workshops.

What is your best value yoga retreat package
All our retreat packages offer unlimited access to classes. Our best value packages is our 3 day Eat, Pray, Love package which includes 2 nights accommodation, breakfast, unlimited classes, Balinese massage, delicious gluten-free lunch or dinner with a drink, plus discounts on workshops, spa, shop and cafe items.

Can I join classes if I am not staying at the centre
Yes, you are very welcome to stay outside the centre and join us for drop-in classes.

Do you offer discounted class packages
If you wish to do more than one class we would recommend purchasing one of our discounted class packages. The more classes you book, the bigger the discount!

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat and props
We provide all the equipment you will need in the classes however if you wish to bring your own mat and props you are more than welcome to.

What is the capacity of your studio
We have 2 studios – our smaller one can fit up to 28 people and the larger one can fit up to 40 people.

 

FOOD & DRINK

Is breakfast included
Yes, we include a healthy and delicious gluten-free breakfast within the price of accommodation. This includes a choice of 6 options suitable for coeliacs, vegans and vegetarians, as well as a choice of fresh juice, and tea or coffee.

Do you offer lunch and dinner
H20’s Gluten-Free Café is also open for lunch and dinner. This is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy our range of healthy and delicious gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and raw menu options.

Do you have vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free/raw options available
Our Gluten-Free cafe is completely coeliac. We offer a range of dishes suitable for all dietary requirements, including gluten-free, raw, vegetarian and vegan options.

Do you have a fridge and kettle available for guests to use
We have a fridge available for guests to use. If you need hot water, you are welcome to ask at the café.

Do you have free drinking water available
We have drinking water refill stations and ask for a small contribution in exchange. If you are booked onto a package, water refills are free.

 

AMENITIES

Do you have hot water showers
Our Deluxe and Superior Deluxe bungalows have hot water showers. Our bungalows that come with shared amenities are cold water showers, however being a tropical country the water is never that cold! J

Do you have a laundry service
There are many laundry services in the area, just a short walk away.

 

WHAT TO BRING

Do I need to bring my own towel and toiletries
We provide a towel for showering with, however we would recommend bringing your own for using around the pool and at the beach. We kindly ask that you bring your own toiletries.

What clothes should I bring
For the yoga classes we would recommend wearing lightweight, comfortable clothes that allow for easy movement. A swimsuit to wear in the pool and at the beach is also a good option.

 

ACTIVITIES

Do you have a pool
Yes, we have a beautiful pool with comfortable loungers around the pool area for you to relax on.

Do you have a spa
Yes, we have an onsite spa that offers a wide variety of therapeutic treatments, including Traditional Balinese massages, reflexology, body scrubs and facials, manicures, pedicures and ear candling.

Do you offer healing treatments
We offer Reiki healing and personalised Yoga Therapy sessions. Reiki is a form of energy healing that helps to bring us into a state of physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

What other activities do you offer at H2O
At H2O we have a full, varied schedule of daily yoga and meditation classes and workshops. We also offer spa and healing treatments, and our nature bath experience. You can hire a bicycle and spend the day exploring the island, or simply enjoy relaxing around our café and pool area.

Where can I buy souvenirs
We have a small shop that sells a range of clothing, essential oils and mala beads. There are also several shops within walking or cycling distance where you can purchase clothes and local souvenirs.

What other activities are there to do on Gili Air
There are lots of other activities on offer around the island – snorkelling day trips, free diving, scuba diving, cooking classes, outdoor cinema, community beach clean-ups, live music and dance classes.There is also the opportunity to visit one of the other Gili islands or Lombok for the day.

 

MEDICAL

Do I need to get vaccinations
We would suggest speaking to your doctor about vaccinations before leaving your home country. Although there is malaria and dengue fever throughout Indonesia, the risk in tourist areas is very low and malaria tablets are not normally prescribed. However there are mosquitoes and it is recommend to use repellent.

Is there a hospital on the island
There are several medical centres and pharmacies on Gili Air, but the nearest hospital is in Mataram City on mainland Lombok, which is a 30 minute boat ride away.

Is there a dentist on the island
The nearest dentist is on Lombok, which is a 30 minute boat ride away.

Can I buy sanitary products on Gili Air
Yes, there are small supermarkets on the island that sell tampons and sanitary towels, however the choice is limited and they are more expensive here.

 

SAFETY

Do you get many solo travellers staying
Yes, many of our guests are solo travellers  so you will be in good company! Our centre is a beautiful haven for meeting and connecting with like-minded people from all over the world.

Is it a safe area
Gili Air is a small, peaceful island. The local residents are very friendly and respectful towards tourists. Although there are very few reported incidents, we would still recommend taking care of your belongings and not walking around alone late at night.

Is the centre quiet in the evenings
Yes, we are located in a peaceful area of the island and we kindly ask guests to keep noise down after 10pm.

Is there somewhere to lock away valuables
It is a very safe area and all the bungalows have locks on the doors. Our Deluxe and Superior Deluxe bungalows have lockable safes in the rooms.

 

MONEY

Are there ATMs on the island
There are several ATMs on Gili Air. The closest one to H2O is only a 5 minute walk away.

Do you offer any discounts for guests
Yes, we offer discounted rates on our classes, workshops, café, spa and shop for guests staying with us.

 

VISAS

Do you need a visa to visit Gili Air
Most nationalities receive a 30 day tourist visa on arrival. There is also the option to buy an extendable tourist visa for the price of $35 USD that can be extended for a further 30 days. It is useful to have $35USD in cash prepared  for this. We advise that you check with the Indonesian embassy in your own country to check the latest rules, as these are subject to change.

 

CHILDREN

Can I bring my children to your centre
Well-behaved children are very welcome at our centre. Please understand that we try to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, especially during yoga and meditation class times.

Can my children join the yoga classes
Children are very welcome to join our classes. We kindly ask that they are supervised and do not disrupt the class.

 

ANIMALS

Are there mosquitoes
It is a tropical island so there are mosquitoes, insects, lizards etc. It is recommended to apply mosquito repellent, especially around dawn and dusk.

Do you have pets at the centre
We have 2 well-behaved cats that live at the centre. It is our policy that they do not go in the bungalows.

Can I bring my pet with me
Unfortunately this is not possible. Dogs are not permitted on the island and we do not allow cats in the rooms, as some people have allergies.
