Studio classes

Studio classes at H20 give many interesting varieties for you to sample. We provide all the equipment so all you need to do is arrive with a smile! You can book ahead but as we have a big studio arriving 15 mins before is usually fine. Our experienced instructors will guide you through classes such as Traditional Hatha and variations of balance, stretching, strengthening, bamboo sticks, gentle flow, vinyasa and yin. You will experience standing and sitting physical postures, breath work and even Tibetan singing bowl meditation in the evenings! Bamboo Stick

Every Tuesday at 8 am we connect with Mother Earth as we bring in the Bamboo sticks to assist us in alignment of poses, symmetry, and certain stretching techniques. People always say how amazing it feels to use the stick! Some of the things you learn you can continue with at home, all you need is a stick. Bamboo as material is stronger than most metals under compression tests and at H20 we see it as our teacher as it has the strength but also the flexibility.

Aqua Yoga

Make a splash into your day with our Aqua Yoga classes! Voted the most fun thing to do on the island. At 9.30 am on Wednesday and Sunday, we offer a one-hour yoga class that you will NEVER forget! Most people are new to Aqua Yoga and everyone looks good in poses in chest high water, so there is no ego. Accessible to all levels and ages, our Aqua Yoga is low impact on the joints, we do resistance work, core, balance, maybe even a handstand...you will have a lot of fun and meet some happy-go-lucky people! Booking in advance is encouraged, as we can only fit 15 yogi’s in the pool!

Meditation

Every Monday and Thursday at 3 pm we have our introduction to Meditation class. Do you have a busy mind? Have trouble relaxing? Stressed? Confused ? Come and join us and reap the benefits of meditation. Most of the group are new to meditation but all levels are welcome. There is a lot of information we share with many techniques including walking meditation, mindfulness and breath awareness. You can ask questions and we give many ideas for you to make it a daily practice.

Qi Gong

Through the Chinese system of Qi Gong we are practicing something sacred that was developed thousands of years ago. Qi Gong translates to ‘the skill of working with life force energy’ The classes are fun and harmonic in nature as the flowing movements assist you in connecting to the Yin and Yang energies bringing balance. Through Qigong we develop a beautiful relationship with the organs in our body and become aware of emotions that cause us stress, worry, sadness, anger or fear and learn how to release them to improve health in body and mind.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Vinyasa Yoga – Meaning “to flow”. A popular style of yoga practiced worldwide that connects breath with movement, with each pose connected to the next. No two Vinyasa classes are the same and this style is quite athletic.

Electric Friday Vinyasa Yoga – An energetic class to ‘ZAP’ you into appreciation of life.

H2O Vinyasa Flow Yoga – In this dynamic class we spend two breaths in each pose; then we keep moving!

Earth Element Yoga –Moving through a series of strong, grounding postures, the earth element inspires commitment and confidence, building stability with flexibility.

Water Element Yoga – Move like water through a stream, and encourage a flow of energy throughout body and mind. Emotions calm as you are no longer in the past with regret, or the future with fear. The serenity of present moment mindfulness returns.

Fire Element Yoga – We will be working with the core and your bhandas to help with alignment, abdominal strength and support in the lower back, tapping into qualities of determination and willpower. Prayer beads of sweat included for free!

Air Element Yoga – This class leads you through invigorating backbends, creating vitality and health in the spine, as you open up your “Anahata”, heart chakra, to a love that expects nothing in return.

Traditional HathaYoga – The foundation of all yoga comes from Hatha. Poses are held for several breaths ensuring correct alignment, a feeling of physical well-being and peace in your practice. Hatha incorporates standing and sitting poses, breath work and meditation.

Hatha Yoga with Bamboo Sticks – Everybody loves this class! The bamboo stick is awesome for helping to open the chest, shoulders, mind and heart. Be like the bamboo in mind and body – “strong yet flexible” and this unique experience will bring you happiness.

Aqua Yoga – Voted the most fun thing to do on the island! This class takes place in our beautiful, specially designed aqua yoga pool. A fun and unique way to experience yoga, bringing awareness to strength, balance and range of motion. Bookings recommended.

Yin Detox Yoga – A class consisting of seated or supine poses held for longer periods of time to release the fascia tissue between muscles and joints. This will detox the organs and muscles, leaving you feeling restored and relaxed in body and mind.

Align and Flow Yoga – Aligning body and mind, learn to become your own healer, modifying how you sit, stand and move, opening yourself up to a wider range of mobility. Create good habits in your practice with this dynamic class.

Gentle Flow Yoga – This slower paced, dynamic class is a wonderful bridge between moving in flow and staying stationary, allowing plenty of time and space to focus on breath and alignment.

Balance and Center Flow Yoga – Improve concentration with a practice focused on your balance. In this class you will bring your right and left brain hemispheres in line, leaving you feeling grounded and present.

Yin Yoga Workshop – Learn the key elements of this slow, restorative practice, stimulating the fascia and calming the nervous system.Our experienced teacher will support and guide you through these three hours of bliss.

Beginners Yoga Workshop – A workshop focusing on the alignment of poses and the discussion of yoga history and philosophy. This will give you the confidence and understanding to ignite your yogic passion.

Introduction to Meditation with Breath Work or Qi Gong – An informative class that will give you a range of tools to help develop your own meditation practice. The class includes variety of seated and walking meditations, breath work and Qi Gong (Chinese yoga), to help calm and focus the mind

Pranayama Meditation – This combination of breath work and meditation techniques will help to balance and centre our energy, ready for the day ahead. The perfect medicine first thing in the morning!

H20 has run this workshop for many years as we enjoy seeing people understanding there own body, the poses and witnessing the confidence and passion the participants have after the 3 hours.
Do you question if you are in the pose correctly ? Do you not understand some of the words used in yoga? Do you want to improve your flexibility, calm your mind and start attending classes with a better knowledge of how a yoga class is structured?
Just like a building, a yoga pose must also have a strong foundation. Come along and enjoy this fun filled journey as we talk through the philosophy of yoga , give demonstrations and hands on adjustments. We will make sure you are doing things right and not putting wear and tear on the body. You will enjoy a yoga class so much more after completing this workshop.
*We have many new people to yoga joining us for this workshop, but also people who may have been doing yoga for one or two years and never learnt alignment in the beginning.

Ever hear the word Yin and wonder what it exactly it means? Yin is the feminine, dark, passive, receptive, reflective, withdrawn, cool, introspective aspects of life. Yin yoga was developed to penetrate deep into connective tissue expanding flexibility while invigorating the energy centers of the body (nadis) to release blockages and increase your energy flow. Focusing on static movement, breath work (Pranayama) and meditation to create a profoundly deep and rewarding practice. The primary differences between Yin Yoga and many other forms of yoga is that you are encouraged to NOT use your muscles and passive poses are held for several minutes.
Static stretching is excellent to increase range of motion. Therefore if you are tight due to repetitive movement from other sport activities or your day job keeps you in the same position 8 hours a day or your body has aged (because yes it will do that) – Yin yoga will help stretch it out.
Yin Yoga is also great for reducing stress in the body and mind. Holding poses without distraction for several minutes teaches us to relax. We begin to release tension that is deeply ingrained in our muscles.
This workshop is a gift to yourself, you will return to your ocean of peace within!
